UI am a fresher and recently got an opportunity to join a company.The company quite large (around 1000+ employees) and they are hiring continuously across Pan India roles.
However, they are asking for an undated security blank cheque of ₹1.5 lakh for 2 years.
When I requested the Talent Acquisition representative to replace the cheque requirement with a proper service agreement, he/she refused. They also do not want to provide any official email mentioning the cheque requirement.I only got one consultant offer email which does not offer letter email does not have any offer PDF.
I genuinely want to join the company because I as a fresher, but I am feeling confused and concerned about the risk involved.
Has anyone here worked with Rapidise or faced a similar situation with security cheques? Is this normal in India for fresher hiring, or should I avoid joining?
Need genuine advice from experienced people

UI want to stay for experience, staying company is not problem but the undated blank cheque is problem they are not ready to give any written proof that they have taken cheque as job security purpose not any debt etc.

UIf you keen do join and gladly offer blank cheque too, then how about smartly order a stop payment with the bank . Keep the company happy and your Money safe .

NYes but they are doing it under the table, OP has no proof that they asked this from him. If the cheque bounces he will be in trouble while the company will get away.
OP should only entertain an Email request for something like this.

UOne will only be in trouble if the debt or liability is legally enforceable, and its on the party presenting the cheque to prove what the cheque is for.
Op don’t have to prove that it was issued for job

SThat’s not always true. The existence of a signed cheque constitutes presumption of a legally enforceable debt. There are various case laws on this and the law related to 138 NI is very clear. OP will have a very difficult battle if he submits that cheque and it bounces. Please don’t give bad advice.

UIf you decide not to join the company, I strongly suggest reporting this practice to the Labour Department or the appropriate government authority in your state. You can even file the complaint anonymously if you are concerned about privacy or future career impact.
Under Indian law, forcing employees or freshers to provide a blank undated cheque as “security” without a proper legal agreement can be considered coercive and potentially misuse of a negotiable instrument under the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881. Labour laws in India also discourage unfair employment practices and exploitation of employees through unreasonable financial pressure.
No genuine company should demand a blank signed cheque as job security, especially while refusing to provide proper written documentation or an official agreement.
Many freshers may agree to such demands due to financial pressure or lack of experience. If complaints are formally raised, it could help prevent the company from exploiting others in the future.

AIf there is no written proof that you have issued a blank cheque the person who is receiving it could be doing it on their own. Tell them that you want to do this in writing.
How did you get the job offer? I’m guessing over email? Reply to their trail saying that you accept the offer and don’t give them the blank cheque.
Under no circumstances should you give a blank cheque to anyone.

UDo one thing. Sign up a cheque, but before you hand them the cheque, go to your bank and put a Stop Payment on your cheque. Once its put on a cheque, nobody (even you) can encash the cheque. I have dealt with a Delhi recruiter the same way. If the company is legit, they will never use the cheque. For the scammers, you have your defense.
