May 1, 2026 at 9:46 amI dont usually like taking leaves, but I recently had to work on a weekend to complete some client project and I was given a comp-off of 2 days.Today I was just checking our leave portal and saw that comp-off leaves is ZERO, so I reached out to my HR
She told me comp off leaves expire after 2 months, its all mentioned in the policy.
I was like, not fair but okay.
Then out of curiosity I looked at my other leave balances, and turn out my earned leaves balance was really low, I again reached out to her and she said at the beginning of every financial year if the earned leaves balance is more than 8, they just deduct those extra leaves, and there is no policy of encashing it, those leaves just vanishes, she said this is also mentioned in the policy, i googled and AI said companies are allowed to keep a cap, but its usually 30-60 days.
In my company its 8, I checked and so far I have lost around 30 earned leaves, so almost a month pay. This fucking sucks, so i wondered if its even legal?
