Company laptop stolen after my notice period ended already filed FIR, what should I do next?

I’m in a bit of a stressful situation and could really use some advice.

I recently completed my notice period at my company and was planning to return my company issued laptop.

However before I could do that the laptop got stolen. I have already taken immediate action and filed an FIR with the police.

How should I properly inform or handle this with my company?

Will I be held financially responsible even though I’ve filed an FIR?

Are there any legal or professional consequences I should be prepared for?

Has anyone faced a similar situation?

Any guidance or shared experiences would really help
