        Hello everyone,

I’m in a tough situation and need some guidance. I had taken ₹26,000 from my Axis Bank credit card, but unfortunately, I lost my father on December 27, 2024. He was the only earning member of our family, and now we are struggling financially.

I explained my situation to the credit card company, and they offered a settlement of ₹13,000. However, I don’t even have that amount right now. I asked them if they could accept ₹8,000 instead, but they refused.

Now, they are telling me to pay ₹8,000 immediately and then revoke the settlement next month, which doesn’t make sense to me. I am a student with no stable income, and life has become really hard after my father’s passing.

What should I do in this situation? Has anyone faced something similar? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You should wait for a good settlement offer. Your CIBIL may take a hit if you don’t pay it off, but other than that you don’t need to be afraid.

Hope things look better for you in the future.

Should I pay the 8K now, as they are threatening me? They keep giving me moral lectures and making me feel like a thief.

If I pay the $8,000 now, they will present me with another settlement offer, which means I may have to pay more than $8,000.

This doesn’t make sense, because I can’t afford to pay more than 8K.

Recovery measures (like filing cases/complaints) are rarely done for such small amounts. The person calling you has a target they have to achieve daily, and don’t care about your circumstances.

Once you pay, they will keep this up until their target (quota) is achieved. Double down, tell them you will cancel this card and then ask for a settlement.

They will threaten you. These rag pickers know to do this only. Your job is to find 5 k, pay 13 k and not to get threatened
