Do Banks or NBFCs take people to court for 15+ year old debt defaults?

Lets say person was kept in dark for like 18-20 years (no communication on pending debt or any attempt to recover it in nick of time) and all off a sudden send them out insane amount debt claims.

In such cases despite of time barred/statute limitation clause do these NBFCs or Banks file court suits?

or should this person file a suit? or only legal notice with all relevant data is sufficient?
