Is marital rape illegal in India?

In India, it is not considered rape if a man forces sex or sexual acts on his wife, as long as she is over 18, due to an exception in a British colonial-era law.

Found this in google… has this not been changed ?? Found nothing regarding the change in this one.

As far as i know it has not been changed. Even in the new rule books, the BNS provides an exception saying

> Exception 2.––Sexual intercourse or sexual acts by a man with his own wife, the wife
not being under eighteen years of age, is not rape.

Marital rape is a very tricky law which if applied can be very easily misused.

You’re right about that. Indian laws aren’t very well thought out. For instance, did you know only biological females can be victims of rape and only biological men can be culprits. Domestic violence can be only done on the wife and not the husband. And there’d be more examples but you get my point.

Domestic violence act covers this part as it includes physical and mental violence. But you can’t claim rape as it isn’t considered illegal.
India is a weird country where marital rape isn’t recognised, while sex on so-called false promise is considered as rape
