Employee making false claims about experience, forging signatures, and absconding with company funds: what are my options?

My content marketing company hired a writer last year who turned out to be terrible. She was fired within a month for insubordination and bad quality of work. Since then, she has:

– Made false claims about her tenure with us (duration, role, responsibilities) to at least 2 other companies – which we discovered when they approached us for a background check

– Created falsified and fraudulent documents to support her claims (relieving letters, recommendations and testimonials etc) with the company logo, watermark etc

– Forged my signature on these documents

– Mistakenly received funds from the company thanks to incorrect payroll processing (and refused to return the funds, cut off contact etc)

We’ve already spoken to our bank and approached the RBI ombudsman for reversal of the wrong transfer but haven’t had any luck. I’d like to pursue both her fraud and the return of funds legally.

What are my options and where do I start?
