I posted this a few days ago. After that, I had a call with my inlaws. Earlier, I had told them that we are two sisters, and since I am the elder one, I have to look after my parents.
During the call, my fiancé’s father asked me how I planned to take care of my parents healthwise, financially, etc. I explained everything to them. However, they were discouraging me from supporting my parents financially and started questioning my parents’ finances. They even asked whether my parents would rent out their current house.
This made me uncomfortable, so I decided to call off the engagement.
Later, they visited my house yesterday to collect their belongings. My parents asked them to pay half of the expenses, and said that if they didn’t pay ₹60,000, the belongings would not be returned. They paid the amount and recorded the conversation.
We also have recordings when they inquired about financial matters. However, we don’t have any proof regarding the request for gold ornaments.
Now, they have consulted a lawyer and are asking us to return the ₹60,000.
Please help me with this. I called off the engagement because they harassed me, and my fiancé did not take a stand for me at all.
