February 5, 2025 at 5:48 pmHey everyone, I need some advice.I’ve been working for the same company for a while, after having left once, they were the one who called me back, and due to personal reasons, I discussed with my engineering manager and got approval to work remotely for most of the past year. I was also visiting the office once a week, as we agreed, and this arrangement was acknowledged by my manager and a few other stakeholders including my lead and CEO.
Now that I’ve resigned and given my notice, I’ve been told that I need to apply for leave for the days I worked remotely. The issue is, no one raised concerns about this earlier, either verbally or in writing. I was under the impression that the remote work arrangement was fine and aligned with the company’s hybrid work culture.
What’s frustrating is that they’re only raising this now after I resigned, and it feels like an unfair request considering the work I’ve done. I completed all my tasks and was fully engaged while working remotely. The remote work situation was well-known and approved throughout the year, but now it feels like they’re questioning my attendance post-resignation, which is causing a lot of confusion and frustration.
Has anyone experienced something like this before? How should I handle this with my manager? Any suggestions?
