January 15, 2025 at 9:46 amMy previous employer has sent me a legal notice for defamation, because I shared my experience and the harassment I faced at the company on a public domain. They are willing to proceed with litigation if I don’t delete the post and publish an apology online, whereas I have all proofs of harassment, the ordeal I had to go through and even my forced resignation that the HR asked from me.How can I go about this and what are my options?

January 15, 2025 at 9:52 amYes, everything is documented and recorded. No statement has been made that is false or is an exaggeration. They were aware of my harassment while I was an employee, because I complained multiple times. They refused to do anything and now they have sent me a legal notice for defamation, stating that the company did take an action against my complaint – not true.-

January 15, 2025 at 10:42 amGet a lawyer to respond to the legal notice. If what you is true, they don’t have a leg to stand on. However fighting a big company in courts can be expensive. So do remember that.

January 15, 2025 at 9:52 amIf you have proof of all the harassment then its not defamation. make sure you are not disclosing any confidential information in the public post. Even things like processes, how sales are done etc could disclose some confidential data about the company which is not known in the public domain.Barring that they have no case. Engage a lawyer and respond to the legal notice.

January 15, 2025 at 9:55 amNothing will happen. I went through the same few years ago and startup demanded 70 lacs for defamation and causing ‘emotional distress’ to the founder lmao. The guy was the biggest prick ever.I used the notice as toilet paper. I don’t even have 70 lacs. But I did send them a standard response denying all their claims.

January 20, 2025 at 4:03 pmDid you engage a lawyer or did you just send out a firm response yourself denying the claims? I’m new to this, so wanted to know if I can send out an email denying the allegations or does it have to be through a lawyer.

January 15, 2025 at 5:26 pmDon’t worry legal notice is b******* if a legal cases filed then that trouble starts stop responding to them also understand that defamation is filed on the basis of the cost of reputation so if I believe that my reputation cause 1 crore then I can file defamation case against you for 1 crore but that doesn’t mean that I will get one one crore if I win the case or you will have to pay one crore if you lose the case so don’t worry it’s just to scare you don’t apologize and tell them do whatever you want I will not apologize also truth is an exception to defamation so you are right so don’t apologize
