UI had booked UC R.O services at my home on 18th December 2025. The professional checked and suggested changing multiple parts. Since my R.O was due any servicing since long I complied after checking the rate card. The rate card(attached below) quoted Rs 5777 which i accepted on the uc part.
Now 6 months down the line my R.O suddenly stopped working. upon further investigation we see that R.O membrane (which costs 3000 out of the 5777) is fake/inauthentic. The part number on it is of 15 digits and KENT R.O site says the numbers should be of 16 digits. UC warranty was for 2 months only. Their customer service response is that this is an “out of warranty issue so we cannot do anything” . But my issue is how can their professional install a fake part and they can absolve responsibility out of warranty period? If the part was genuine and stopped working due to usage mechanical/wear and tear damage this argument was acceptable. The entire transaction is done through UC (I all the invoice,rate card etc) . Do I have a legal standing here?
My concern is that people trust UC with these things. At the time of repair I was not at home to do any deeper checks on parts. My mom checked the parts by taking them in her hands but could not do the 16 digit number check and their audacity to count fraud by their professional as warranty issue. What is your legal advice here?
