        Background and Current Situation:

My maternal grandfather passed away in July of last year. Prior to his passing, he had executed a will, naming his four legal heirs โ€” two daughters and two sons. The will fairly and clearly allocates substantial shares to both daughters, including my mother.

Unfortunately, this has triggered deep resentment from her brothers, who are extremely patriarchal, entitled, and have not contributed meaningfully. financially or otherwise, at any point. They believe that by virtue of being male, they are entitled to a larger share of the inheritance.

Rather than engaging in a civil or amicable discussion, they have resorted to harassment and intimidation. They are refusing to share legal documents pertaining to my mother’s share, have engaged a criminal lawyer, and even gone so far as to issue a legal notice falsely alleging that the will was fabricated and that my mother coerced her father into awarding her a larger portion.

In addition to these legal maneuvers, they have subjected my mother to relentless emotional abuse, calling her frequently, hurling threats, and trying to coerce her into conceding to their unjust demands. This has led to eight months of stalled inheritance proceedings and immense emotional distress.

        Our Stance:

My mother is reluctant to enter into a prolonged court battle, not due to fear of its outcome, but because of the mental and emotional toll it will take. We are hoping to resolve the matter outside of courtโ€”ideally through respected mediators or with the support of trustworthy social or political influenceโ€”to safeguard her rightful share and restore her peace of mind.

Any guidance, resources, or support in navigating this difficult situation would be deeply appreciated. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป

Well. Engage a lawyer immediately. Why will you voluntarily give up money and property when it is legally yours? You donโ€™t have to speak with your family members. If they call you, ask them to speak to your lawyer. It is not very difficult. And there is no grounds for any criminal case at all. Even challenging a registered will by way of a suit is extremely difficult.

We have engaged in a lawyer long back, the only thing about taking this to court is the prolonged process. All we wanted was to resolve this issue outside of the court.
