January 30, 2025 at 6:28 amI live in Bangalore and my rental agreement ended on 9 Dec. My landlord informed me on 5 Dec that new rent will be hiked more than 15% but rental agreement mentioned only 5%.
I messaged him and tried contacting me but he got back on 13 Dec and he said max he will reduce it by 500. Two days before I told him I will vacate the flat by end of this month and he started speaking in a way to threaten me.
Told me I should inform 2 months prior if I am leaving but my agreement has already expired so this should not be valid.
He threatened that he will cut two months rent in deposit this way.
Now I don’t know what to do
There should be rental laws in Bangalore like Hyderabad where deposit should be not more than 2 months of rent. These guys keep on harassing us. -

January 30, 2025 at 7:52 am1. Get an advocate2. File a cheating complaint against the landlord.
3. Have the landlord pay you back the deposit + legal fees incurred in return for taking back the complaint.
4. Live peacefully

January 30, 2025 at 11:05 amYes it is written but does it even hold when he abruptly increases rent more than 15% and rental agreement has expired.-

OP
January 30, 2025 at 11:54 amRental agreement clearly mentions 5% increment of rent. He informed me two days prior of expiry of agreement that he will increase it by 15%+ . Why am I forced to live for 2 month notice when he can willingly increase rent anytime he wants-
