February 23, 2025 at 7:28 amUnfortunately, We had to file an FIR over a month ago (My mom was SA’ed) in Rabale, Navi Mumbai, MH Police station.the culprit is a 19yr old immigrant boy and i am not sure how police is not able to find him. I fear that the boy’s family will cause harm to my mother as they know where we live. the fear is killing me
what can i do to speed up the process ? ( pls dont suggest any illicit methods – bribe or anything )

February 23, 2025 at 8:30 amADVOCATE HERE. I will take the liberty to presume that you actually lodged the FIR, not merely a complaint to police, these are two different things. Now, since FIR is lodged, you don’t really have anything in your hands, except to seek police protection. You cannot control investigation unless you see deliberate and manifest faults, which is when you will have to approach area Magistrate’s Court. Things are really simple there, though appear nerve-wracking to citizens. Don’t worry. My best wishes.-

February 23, 2025 at 8:36 amYes, we filed FIR. So is there like no time limit to which the problem has to be addressed by police forces ? That doesnt sound fair!-

February 23, 2025 at 9:57 amThat’s incorrect. Every State Police has internal directives/SOPs for concluding investigation. It can range anywhere between 30 days to 90 days. What is crucial in YOUR PARTICULAR SCENARIO, is that medical examination should have been done on the very day, which I believe was not done. In this light, you may approach Court to monitor investigation.
