UMy parents are extremely financially irresponsible and were abusive to me and my brother in childhood. We are adults now and have jobs, and live away from them.
Both parents barely worked and lived off my dad’s mother’s money. Then in the middle phase of their life, they lived off inheritances from both sides and lived life large (trips, giving gold gifts, showing off) with no future planning or saving.
They ran out of money and I tried to support them, but every time I sent them money they spent it on parties at five star hotels and then they’re broke again- asking for more.
They never planned ahead and constantly asking me for money for healthcare expenses and other stuff. They’re even mooching off my dad’s brother who is kind and old school and just gives them money. Talked to them multiple times and they get angry and refuse to listen. I NEED to break out of this cycle.
How to legally get by without supporting your parents or put some financial conservatorship in place where you manage their money the next time they get an inheritance or the money I send them, so they don’t blow everything off?
Any other recourse to save myself from these toxic parents?Please help- my brother and I are desperate. Don’t want to be sued for not supporting them anymore.
