May 3, 2026 at 12:21 pmNeed serious legal guidance against Flipkart for defective ₹1.10 lakh laptop, DOA certificate obtained, refund still denied/delayedI am posting this to seek practical legal advice and next step guidance. If any lawyer, law student, or experienced consumer rights person is willing to guide me (pro bono / low cost), I would sincerely appreciate it.
I want to present the full timeline clearly because I have documented everything.
Purchase Details
I purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 14IAH10 laptop through Flipkart India.
Order ID: OD337329155083934100
Order Date: 17 April 2026
Invoice Date: 18 April 2026
Seller: Damson Technologies Private Limited
Price Paid: approx ₹1,10,000This was a high value purchase made for my work needs.
Defects From Initial Use
From the very beginning, the laptop showed multiple serious issues:
Charging problem
Camera malfunction
Overheating / battery concern
Warranty period mismatch / wrong warranty display
Overall suspicion that the unit was defective from the startThis was not a wear and tear issue. These problems were present immediately after delivery.
Flipkart Initial Failure
I reported the issue within the eligible period.
Flipkart informed me that a technician visit would be scheduled to verify the issue.
That technician visit never happened.
No inspection happened, no meaningful resolution happened, and valuable time was wasted while I kept waiting.
Flipkart Then Shifted Burden to Me
After the technician process failed, Flipkart told me to contact Lenovo authorized service center and obtain a DOA certificate.
So instead of resolving the issue through their own promised process, I had to personally take over the entire matter myself.
My Personal Effort and Cost
I personally traveled to Lenovo authorized service center in Hyderabad.
I submitted the laptop there, coordinated with engineers, followed up repeatedly, waited for updates, and handled everything myself.
This consumed:
Time
Travel cost
Effort
Productivity loss
Work disruptionAll of this happened because Flipkart’s own promised technician process failed.
Lenovo Findings and Certificate
Lenovo inspected the unit and processed the case under DOA procedure.
I received the certificate from Lenovo. The service center verbally confirmed that the replacement certificate issued is the DOA certificate for this case.
Meaning: the unit was serious enough to qualify under DOA process.
What I Requested
After obtaining the certificate, I submitted it to Flipkart and clearly requested:
Full refund, not replacement
Why I Refused Replacement
At this point I no longer have confidence in simply receiving another unit because:
Original unit was defective from day one
Promised technician process failed
Seller/platform handling has been poor
I already lost significant time
I urgently need a reliable working laptop for income/workFlipkart’s Continued Conduct
Even after I submitted the certificate, Flipkart kept sending repeated generic template emails telling me again to contact Lenovo for replacement.
This makes no sense because:
1. I already contacted Lenovo
2. I already completed the service center process
3. I already submitted the certificate
4. Flipkart is the platform through which the product was soldInstead of resolving the case, they keep looping scripted responses.
Escalations Already Done
I have already taken multiple reasonable steps:
Multiple emails to Flipkart
Customer care calls
Clear explanation of full timeline
Social media escalation on X/Twitter
Complaint filed with National Consumer HelplineStill no final refund resolution.
My Current Position
I now have:
Defective product case from day one
Proof of timely complaint
Proof technician process failed
DOA certificate
Repeated template responses from Flipkart
Documentation of escalation effortsWhat I Need Guidance On
I am also asking about lawyer fees, pro bono help, or low cost options because this dispute has already created financial strain. My work depends on having a functioning laptop, and this delay has affected productivity and income planning. I want to pursue the strongest remedy possible without creating an unsustainable additional financial burden.
1. Should I immediately send a formal legal notice now?
2. Is Consumer Forum / e Daakhil stronger than legal notice in this situation?
3. Can I realistically pursue this myself without spending heavily on lawyer fees?
4. Can I claim compensation for wasted time, travel, harassment, and delay?
5. Based on these facts, how strong is my case realistically? Why This Matters
This was not a cheap impulse buy. It was a ₹1.10 lakh work device. I acted in good faith at every step, complied with every instruction, and still got trapped in delay loops.
Any serious legal strategy or guidance would be deeply appreciated.
