April 22, 2025 at 1:23 pmHi ,I’m writing this post as a deeply frustrated and betrayed customer who trusted **Croma**, a Tata Group company, thinking I’d be treated with professionalism, ethics, and transparency. Instead, what I got was:
* **Fraudulent product delivery**
* **Deliberate mis-selling of a service plan**
* **Fake invoicing**
* **Manipulation of charges**
* And finally, **open threats and blackmail by store staff**This happened at **Croma Jaipur – Jagatpura A689 (Vivacity Mall, Mahal Road)**. Here’s what went down.
**📆 Timeline of Events**
**April 15, 2025**
I purchased a **Usha Dynamo 70L Cooler**.It was delivered **defective**. Complaint raised **immediately**.Despite multiple follow-ups with store and online support, **zero action** was taken from Croma. Not a single callback. Only Usha service guy came when we complained on our own at toll free number. He repaired pump but swings still not working.
**April 19, 2025 – The Day Everything Went Wrong**
I visited the same Croma store and purchased:
* **Two General CET Series 1.5 Ton Inverter ACs**
* Each AC cost ₹65,770 → Total ₹1,31,540
* I was eligible for a **₹5,000 ICICI credit card cashback**
* Final billed amount: ₹1,38,089
* This included a **ZipCare 4-Year Unlimited AC Maintenance Plan**Here’s where the scam begins:
**The ZipCare Scam (Fraudulent Mis-selling)**
The **senior manager at the store** offered me the ZipCare plan saying:
“It’s just ₹549. Delivery and handling will also be ₹549 each.”
Trusting his words, I agreed. But when the **final invoice arrived**, I was shocked:
* **ZipCare Plan was billed as 6548/-**
* **Delivery charges were never actually levied**
* That ₹549 + ₹549 was **a made-up cover-up to fraudulently sell the ₹5999 plan** under disguiseThey did not charge both handling or delivery charges for Cooler but charged for AC so they could adjust the Zipcare plan.
I confronted the staff **next day (April 20)**, and **they had no explanation**. The manager fumbled, refused to admit wrongdoing, and avoided all questions. Eventually, the conversation became hostile and they tried to deflect everything.
**The AC Delivery Scam**
Croma delivered **2 Ton ACs**, even though I paid for **1.5 Ton models**.
What’s worse?
They **manipulated the invoice by adding 2 Ton AC serial numbers** under the 1.5 Ton model billing. I didn’t realize this until the **Croma store called ME back** to say they had “mistakenly delivered the wrong ACs” and asked me not to install them.
However, **1 AC was already installed**, and 1 was unopened. After multiple discussions, I agreed to **return both 2 Ton ACs in exchange for the correct 1.5 Ton models**, with the understanding that:
* I’d **return the installed 2T unit later** once stock of 1.5T is available (Only 1 unit was available today)
* They’d **immediately replace 1 unit**, and install it that day itselfThey confirmed this at the store — **face to face**.
**📱 Then Came the Threats – WhatsApp Message from Store Manager**
Just after the first replacement was done, I received a **WhatsApp message from the Croma store manager** (screenshot attached) which completely turned hostile. Here’s what he falsely claimed:
1. That I had agreed to **pay ₹15,000 for 1 unit** because 2 Ton costs ₹20K more — **I NEVER agreed to this**.
2. That they were giving me a “₹5,000 concession” — **another lie**.
3. That since I didn’t agree to pay ₹15K, they would:
* **Cancel my ZipCare Plan** (which I already paid for)
* **Revoke warranty and service for both ACs**
* **Refuse further support or installation**In short: They’re now **threatening to cancel services I paid for**, just because I **refused to accept their fraudulent terms**.
**Why This Is Unacceptable**
Let’s be clear — this isn’t a “bad experience.” This is:
* **Deliberate fraud and mis-selling**
* **Manipulation of invoice and serial numbers**
* **Coercion to pay extra for something I never agreed to**
* **Threats to void warranty and service unless I comply**
* **Violation of Consumer Protection Act (2019)**
* And a complete breach of **Tata’s core brand values****🙏 Posting Here for Visibility & Advice**
Reddit, I’m posting here to:
