May 6, 2026 at 9:17 amLocation: Madgaon, Goahii everyone, so my grandma recently went to my village, and we have an appartment there. apparently she brought few fruits home from an overhanging branch of a jackfruit in backyard of the building, which belonged to the plot owner of the plot behind our building. and he filed a police complaint against us. the tree is on his plot however the branches extend to ours. i understand the plot owner but he couldve atleast warned once.
so, are we in trouble, is there a way to get out of this, from what I read on the internet it’s a mixed opinion on whether we have the legal access to overhanging branches or not.
any advice would be of great help. thankyou.

May 6, 2026 at 9:22 amYou have absolutely no legal access. If a fruit tree extends into your property, it doesn’t mean the fruits belong to you.Stop stealing! Apologize to the owner and pls don’t repeat such behaviour in the future.

May 6, 2026 at 4:12 pmJust asking. Not a lawyer. If he has rights for the fruit does he also not have responsibility for the leaves or branches that fall into your backyard throught the year. Does he clean them? How does this work?
