March 23, 2025 at 4:01 amI lent a lump sum amount to someone, and now theyโre refusing to return the money. I have some proof of the transaction but not for everything. Iโve tried talking to them, but they keep delaying or ignoring my requests. I want to recover my money smoothly without getting into a long legal battle. Iโm considering sending a legal notice and possibly filing a civil recovery suit, but I know that legal cases in India can take years. Does anyone have experience with this? Whatโs the best and fastest way to recover the money? Any legal or practical advice would be really helpful.
He’s lawyer by profession and he asks us “do whatever you want to do” I won’t give return you a single rupee back”
We want him to return the money soon
As there’s an event in my family
Suggest me something that can help us get back money early..We do have texts and call recordings in which he and we mentioned about the money and it’s recovery

March 23, 2025 at 6:24 amItโs a hassle. The mental stress involved which later causes health issues. Need to spend money legally to get money. They have connection to goons and makes it unsafe for the family. And so on..

March 23, 2025 at 7:52 amBrother/sister you’re so ignorant of the law. You need a lawyers consult to be honest.Fill up the cheque for the balance amount + interest. Fill it up and deposit.
Cheque will either clear – great you got your money back.
Cheque will bounce – you can file a case for cheque bounce which generally gets a resolution in under a year.Do note that if he does genuinely not have the money to give or assets to liquidate – he will face jailtime and that’s the outcome now. His jailtime means you don’t get you money back as the jailtime is the punishment.

March 23, 2025 at 8:02 amVisit and lawyer. Ask for fee upfront. Ask for and consult and consultation chargers.I would recommend using cheque bounce as a strategy as that has the quickest resolution of under 1 year. Every thing else will take 5+ years – like a civil suit, violent threats, etc

March 23, 2025 at 7:35 amFilling a case is the only option. do not try anything illegal, violence etc you will be fcu**** coz of his profession. If you paid via cheque, bank transfer than there is hope however it will take time 1-2 years. Where are you from? State-

March 23, 2025 at 7:53 amCash is very difficult. You can get it mentioned but upi/cheque is attainable. Preferably hire a lawyer locally but make sure lawyer is known/related coz opponent is also a lawyer so you have be extra careful that yours is loyal trustworthy.

March 23, 2025 at 8:01 amLesson learnt: Don’t ever give a loan, unless you have the muscle to get it back.-

March 23, 2025 at 5:22 pmCan’t use muscle everywhere
Specially when the opponent knows the laws well
We will loose money as well end up getting sued-

March 23, 2025 at 4:46 pmYeah he might take the defence that the cheque was a security cheque
Try it
Fill it and get the cheque bounced and send him a legal notice and do mention about the loan as well with proofs-
