March 31, 2025 at 2:27 pmAsking for a friend. His GF’s parents are too strict and are not agreeing to their marriage and her parents have also threatened to file case, physically harm the guy if they ever get married. This was she talked to her parent a year ago. They want to get court marriage first and then try to convince her parents once again, the marriage certificate can protect the guy in case of any false kidnapping case against him. Is this the best course of action in this scenario? Any tips are welcomed. Thanks -

March 31, 2025 at 3:25 pmCourt marriage will protect them from false cases. From physical violence, no. In fact, they might get more provoked by the news of the court marriage.I personally think families that are capable of physical violence are highly risky. Its best to inform them from very far away! And they should definitely meet a lawyer (somewhere far away) who will advise them on other legal steps they can take.

March 31, 2025 at 3:29 pmThanks for your advice. Yes, they have contacted a lawyer. Yes, they are very far away from girls place. The girls cousin was also in a very similar position. Now their parents have completely accepted the cousins marriage and having a good relationship. They believe her case will be similar, her parents and relatives are trying to scare them but eventually be okay. They are not planning to tell about court marriage unless absolutely required
