February 16, 2025 at 12:48 pmI need some help onto what can I do in the following case:I moved in my new flat in September. Its a 3bhk where i was supposed to have the master bedroom but at the last moment the broker said that the guy who was about to leave the master bedroom has changed his mind and is not gonna leave so you will have to make do with the smaller room. Since my situation at that time was tight wrt time, I made my peace with it after a few angry calls. The broker explained me that this guy contacted the owner and convinced him to let him keep the room. When i mentioned that fine, i will speak to the owner as well then the broker said you are not allowed to before you move in. When I moved in, the guy having the master bedroom said that he never contacted the owner neither convinced them for anything.
Point 2:
This guy from master bedroom was living here since Feb 24 with 2 other guys. These 2 guys left in august and me and another person replaced them. Now cometh feb 2025, the broker and owner said they are gonna increase the rent because the agreement is over. Here, i was told initially that the rental agreement will be a new one lasting 11 months. The agreement that I have says that its of 11 months.
But the twist is my flatmates and the owner has a different agreement which has a miscallenous point that the agreement will be ending after 5 months. On this basis, our rent was increased.
We have deposits that are partly with the broker and we fear that he will do some scam and deduct or not give the money whenever we leave. Our owner has an attitude that he does not give a damn as long as he gets his rent. He does not care what happens between tenants and the broker. And obviously, the broker has kept the owner as a baby since he doesnβt want to leave the flat as a broker.
I want to get back at him for these scams. I am planning on sending a document of all the wrong things the broker has done to the owner. If the owner refuses to take action, what are my options?
PS: Recently we delayed in providing rent, and the owner complained about it to whcih the broker said if they do not pay my midnight we will throw them out( works well in his case, he gets new tenants, more brokerage)
What are my options? Really need some advice here.
