January 21, 2025 at 10:48 amHi everyone need help with this.A guy has been constantly calling me for last 1 hour from 12+ numbers till now.
Somehow he knows where I worked 3 years ago and asking me the number of my senior.
He thinks I still work there but I have left the company.
He is saying that my senior has taken loan (from Fibe) and given my number in reference. I know this is false because my senior is like crorepati why would he take 30-50k loan from Fibe. The thing is I have my senior’s number but when this guy called first time I knew something was fishy and I told him I don’t have his no. But then this guy started abusing me.
I blocked the numbers but hes been constantly calling and abusing me and threatening me on phone.
Should I have given the numbers simply? It doesn’t feel right plus now after hearing all the threats and abuse I don’t want to share.

January 21, 2025 at 11:00 amPick up the calls and record them.Tell that fellow that you have no contact with your senior and your permission was never taken to give your reference.
If the calls continue, file an FIR with the recordings as proof.

January 21, 2025 at 11:29 amVisit the local police station. Most of these low lives have a big mouth. But that’s it, just a big mouth. The minute you file a complaint, they’ll be begging you to compromise. Use that as a lever to recover damages, the more the better.Unless they feel the pinch, they won’t stop!

January 21, 2025 at 11:33 amBetter you go to the local police station and file a written complaint. Specifically mention that you were called from multiple numbers with threats. If they asked you to pay back the money, include the term “extortion” in the complaint.-

January 21, 2025 at 11:58 amJust cut the call and block the numbers. They won’t disturb you once they get exhausted with no response. They’ll feed on your vulnerability and fear. Just don’t entertain them. It’s a very common practice. It’s a fraud and a scam. Block all the numbers and don’t pick unknown numbers.-

January 21, 2025 at 12:04 pmYes I started doing that. Seems like it is working.Only one time I turned on the call recording app (the one that gives notification to the other end, deliberately) after that he hasn’t called me even once.
I shouldn’t have picked the call in the first place when it was showing scam notification on Truecaller but the guy called me like 5-6 times continuously so I thought It might be something important.

January 21, 2025 at 12:16 pmI was just scared that he might do some sort of online scam or try to blackmail me or what if starts calling my relatives. So far nothing of that sort is happening. It is just scary how much data these guys have on a person.

January 21, 2025 at 12:15 pmI even do that when the caller speaks in hindi (try to notice the tone and accent). But the first time this guy called he spoke in English so I thought he might be a recruiter or something.
