UHello
This happened yesterday. Someone I know got in a car accident with some drunk Haryanvi guys who beat him up for over 30 minutes (he was alone and there were 4-5 of them), took his phone and forcibly made him transfer 30000 rupees. Unfortunately he didn’t get the number plate though it was a DL number. We do have one of the guy’s name and UPI ID from the UPI payment though.
What should be the next steps? My friend is reluctant to file an FIR because it might not amount to anything and would be a hassle.

In this case it is different, since they took the payment online, obviously they either have to withdraw it by cash through any ATM, or send it to another bank account, all the chain related to this can be found, and finding these guys is a piece of cake, only if the complainant can be a little less lazy and so the cops.

INo guarantee of justice but police will extort 50k to 1 lac easily from them.
At least they will loose some money

UHe can look at the car number and remember it while standing there for 30 fucking minutes.
People also call each other by their names while talking, if he was there getting beaten up for 30 mins he could have catched up on named of 2-3 guys instead.

AYouโve obviously never been in such a situation. Adrenaline is a wild thing. Your body surges with adrenaline, everything is fight or flight. And your brain stops functioning at the same level. Itโs purely animalistic at this point.

UDude, how long does adrenaline surge lasts? Itโs 10-15 seconds tops. He was there for half a fucking hour.
You donโt even know what youโre talking about and i have been in such situations if thatโs what you are concerned about, i have been fired upon and i have been chased by gangsters.
Also i gave my helpful advice in first reply, go to the police and give them the UPI id in case you failed to understand that as well.

UThis is assault, burglary. Go to the police, file a case on unknown people who assaulted and robbed you. Only proof is UPI ID. Let police track the thieves.
Get a good lawyer.

Write a complaint to the Police Station within whose jurisdiction this occurrence took place.
Contents of the Complaint
1. The Facts of the incident.
2. Place where the incident Occurred.
3. Time of Occurrence.
4. with a sentence request the SHO (station house officer) to register and start investigation.
5. Date and your Phone number is very importantget the diary number of the complaint and give the SHO a photocopy of the same.
then attach this complaint to the complaint to the Bank and then if the police register the FIR then well and good and if they dont. then feel free to ask further steps.

Dpolice is a state subject and portals are state specfic. my question was about why the suggestion to go to PS? cant OP just file an online complaint?

UGo to the police with a lawyer, unless you just want to beat around the bush. The lawyer fee and subsequent actions may involve more financial transactions, however that’s the only way to get justice, if your acquaintance is hell bent on getting it. Remember, cops don’t take you seriously unless you have a lawyer by your side.
