May 1, 2025 at 7:15 pmThis is in Maharashtra. Parked my car on the side of the road in a designated parking area and paid for the receipt as usual. Later received an e-challan of 1500 for “causing obstruction by vehicle at rest in public space” (basically no parking I believe). The image attached (only one image btw) is of the rear of the car, and was clicked without me realising just as I was backing into the parking spot and waiting for a car to get out of the aforementioned spot.Father advised to just pay the fine and avoid any hassle. I’m not so keen on that though. Would filing a challan grievance on the portal help? I have transaction slip and parking receipt as evidence.

May 1, 2025 at 8:00 pmIt seems you have a strong case to contest the challan, especially since you have evidence of payment for legal parking. Here’s how you can proceed:1. **Gather Evidence**: Keep the transaction slip and parking receipt safe, and print the e-challan you received as evidence of the claim against you.
2. **File a Grievance**: Visit the Maharashtra Traffic Police’s official website and locate the section for challenging a traffic challan. Submit a grievance, attaching your parking receipt and transaction slip, and explaining the situation.
3. **Visit Traffic Police Office**: If there’s no resolution online, consider visiting the nearest traffic police office with originals and copies of your documents. Speak to an officer to explain and resolve the matter.
4. **Follow up**: Regularly check your grievance status online or follow up with the office physically if necessary.
5. **Legal Advice**: If all else fails, consult a local lawyer for further advice. You may consider referring to Section 207 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 regarding procedures for vehicle impounding and challenging wrongful fines.
Act quickly to avoid any late fees.

May 6, 2025 at 7:11 pmLok adalat is being scheduled on 10th May 2025. Just go to the nearest court where it is being held, your total challan amount will reduce by 50-70%.
