February 1, 2025 at 2:54 pmSo recently in January, my mother bought jewellery from orra and the staff overcharged for it. We later checked it’s price on their website and it was about 10k less than what we’ve been charged. After contacting the manager and showing them chats of their staff and my mother, the manager is offering 7k repayment. Context- this jewellery is bought with a bhishi investment thing run by orra and they didn’t allow any discounts upon the jewellery. Should I go to consumer court or just take the 7k, also would I need a lawyer to represent my case? And is it worth it or just a waste of resources? -

February 1, 2025 at 3:05 pmLawyer here. Go to consumer forum and seek 50k compensation for mental harassment.
I was awarded 45k as compensation by a cafe who charged additional 25rs illegally. 😉-

February 1, 2025 at 6:45 pmI was dining at a café in Meerut, UP, when I was charged an additional ₹25 as container charges. Upon enquiring with the café owner, he gave excuses about rising raw material costs and other irrelevant reasons. The next day, I sent a legal notice demanding a refund of ₹25 along with ₹24,000 for mental harassment and ₹21,000 for the cost of the legal notice. After receiving no response from the café owner, I filed a consumer complaint in the Consumer Court in Delhi (as I work for gain in Delhi) under Section 35 of the Consumer Protection Act for deficiency of service and unfair trade practices.
As a result, the café owner had to travel from Meerut to Delhi for every hearing. After fighting the case for around six months, the court ruled in my favor and awarded a total amount of ₹45,000.
