March 22, 2025 at 6:06 amI have a TVS Raider, which I purchased a year ago and I have had 7-8 services done. My engine oil capacity is 1000ml, which costs ₹799. However, they have been charging me for 1200ml, (899) something I never noticed until yesterday.Upon confronting them, they showed no remorse and gave the excuse that, at the time, only 1200ml was available, so they used that. But my question is—for the whole year? They never had 1000ml available? That’s ridiculous. And to do this without informing me?
They never returned the extra oil or refunded the money. I have already raised a complaint with TVS, but I feel bad for other people who were also scammed in broad daylight. I have bills and service records to prove it. I hope I can get justice for others as well.
I haven’t confronted them with friends or anyone because I don’t have any. There were too many of them, and I suspect everyone is involved—this is too well-planned to be a mistake. So, I left the service center without creating a scene.”
What can I do to bring justice to others and call out their scam? I already raised a complain in TVS however my question is what can I do legally? for others as well. -

March 22, 2025 at 6:16 amThey must be saving 200 ml from each overcharged 1200 ml and after every 5 or 6 left over again charge that amount to a new customer. So cost for that oil became zero with full revenue on that oil. Insane profit margin %.-

OP
March 22, 2025 at 6:25 amNo they dont, they are not naive, I suspect they just refill the bottles from leftover oil because lobby (where customers sit) and service station has trandparent walls, however its not possible to see whether the bottle is sealed or not unless someone stand right next to them to check which no one does.-

March 22, 2025 at 8:59 amThis. Service centres use a lot of oil. They don’t buy it in retail quantities like you’d get in a spare parts shop. It’s usually in a drum. Also 1.2 litres is a non-standard volume of oil. No well-known brand sells oil in anything other than whole litre or .5 litre packs, especially not motorcycle engine oil.
Did you see the mechanics take oil from a sealed bottle? If not, it probably came from a drum.
In any case, many TVS service centres are scummy and are looking to make a quick buck. Check out xBhp / Team-bhp forums for your city to find a reliable dealer / service centre. And take your bike to a third party mechanic as soon as it is out of warranty.
Edit: As for what you can do legally, probably not much. You’ve lost less than Rs. 1000 in oil changes (maybe a bit more in other consumables that didn’t actually need to be changed.) Unless you can get a whole bunch of other TVS customers to join you in a PIL or something, nobody is going to take a <Rs. 1000 loss seriously.
Also, 7 services in under 2 years? Is that the recommended service schedule? Seems very high.

March 22, 2025 at 8:55 pmDude just change oil alone every 4k kms and do alternate service. No need of doing every service. Cost 30-50 rupees for changing oil. Chain lubrication another 20 rupees. Don’t waste money bro. U can buy oil urself and change it.-

March 23, 2025 at 5:43 amAgreed. OP, you can get the oil changed every 3000km at a third party mechanic and only go to the service centre for the 6000km service until you reach the end of the warranty period.I wouldn’t recommend changing the oil on your own unless you have a way of disposing old oil safely. It’s really bad for the environment if it is disposed improperly.

March 22, 2025 at 8:23 amBro, record a video of this showing your bill copy and put it on twitter or IG. Then you will see how quickly they’ll reach out to you and even refund you the total amount which has been over charged till date.To make things sweeter, put on video that you will log a case on Consumer Court. You will get a different level of Customer Service altogether.
