Would request everyone who posts here in desperation to not respond to any DMs from lawyers.
Mostly theae are out of work lawyers looking to make some fast money and you will get scammed.

I had a narrow escape with one such lawyer so just want to caution others.

Just want to add please be extra careful when they ask you to ‘send papers’ as they will hold them for ransom and charge a bomb to return them. They pretend they have read them when they have not even looked at them.

I And all the other advocates i know would always prefer a soft copy. why would anyone want hardcopies when initially talking to a client? Especially over the internet, that would absolutely be a scam. Never send papers to people you have not met or checked thoroughly.

I asked for the previous cases they have handled before giving any details from my side to them.
Once they provide or if they provide the details I will be checking those cases in the ecourt website.

Of course they also need to share their Bar ID number and licence etc with me before I engage them.

As I always say in India everyone is waiting to scam you, online and offline both, so no harm in asking for all the details before paying a single rupee to anyone.

Yes, and scammers come in all forms, including your house help, security guards. Never trust anyone outside the family circle with your money and property.
All sob stories are fake be it reddit or twitter 😭

Yes I think its exactly how it works. Mostly people who post have suddenly landed in a situation and are clueless about legal stuff so make the perfect ‘ bakra’ for someone who then can recommend someone else and get a commission.

If the lawyer is doing allllll of that be assured he is toooo pressed for work. I won’t be willing to give my matter to them as a client.No lawyer usually shares details of cases they’ve done just to get a matter (idk if that’s the case with trial courts)

P.S : I am a lawyer and i wouldnt sit and prove here on reddit that i am one LOL. But say if I some one needs legal assistance n are known only online they can Google the name of the lawyer . Some judgments will pop up for sure (ik this works for HC n SC)

If the lawyer is not local it’s going to be difficult to figure out if he is legit or not.

If u want to base your entire case on reddit dms it’s not going to be easy.

If someone dms u and claims to be a lawyer. Just meet the lawyer in person in their office or any court of their practice, if you are serious about filing a case or anything related to actual court work.
