Help needed regarding passport renewal

My father owns a flat in Thane, but currently I live with my family in Pune on rent. I want to renew my passport with the Thane address, but currently that flat is on rent. My current passport has an old address not of the Thane flat. Is there any way to get my new passport with Thane address or will my passport request be rejected due to issue in police verification?
