UTLDR; I did a hit and run today, and am looking for advice on next steps I should take.
Rear-ended a car during my usual travel (I got rear-ended too), it was partially the fault of the car ahead me, since it stopped abruptly and partially mine since I didn’t maintain enough space. The car that rear ended me fled.
There was no major damage, only bumper to bumper contact, got out, and to resolve it amicably but the people in the other car started abusing and wanted a fist fight instead, so keeping in mind my safety I just wanted to run away. Got in my car, and started driving away, one of the passenger from the other car tried to stop me, failing that he held on to my side mirror and got dragged along for a few meters while I drove away. I was too worried for him (we were at an extremely busy highway), so stopped the car again for him. He stood up, and once again just wanted to fight. I had already locked my car and all the windows. He tried to break the driver’s side window, banged it a few times, but I managed to drive away, without him hanging off the side mirror this time.
I never intended on being a hit and run, but my higher priority was my personal safety.
Completely missed noting down number of thd other car, but I’m sure he noted mine.
What should I do next? Any steps to get in front of potential complaints against me?
