How long does it take to legally change your name? Is it a hectic process?

I’m planning to legally change my name and wanted to get some clarity about the process.
I’m mainly wondering how long the entire process takes from start to finish. Is it a hectic and complicated procedure with a lot of paperwork and running around? Also, how much does it generally cost, including things like the affidavit, newspaper publication, and Gazette notification?
And once the name is legally changed, how much time it usually takes to update all the other important documents like Aadhar, PAN card, passport, bank accounts, and educational certificates.

paperwork is not that difficult. You will have to get affidavit, applications etc prepared and publish in newspapers regarding the name change post that just have to go gazette office and get same published. once the gazette is published your name is changed and you can show that gazette everywhere like aadhar centre and other departments for name change.

the fee would be around 1100 it depend on district to district. The fee for minor and major has slight difference.

I know someone who is from Maharashtra she got her name change done in delhi. the fee was 1150 two years ago.
