Apologies for the long post. Me (M) and girlfriend, both in our mid 20s, both with abusive households, live in NCR. Keeping it vague in an attempt to guard our identities. We planned to stabilise our finances and then move out together and go no contact with our respective families ASAP, that was the plan until her family found out about us. Her family is the worst one and she has been threatened physical harm multiple times already, as well as threats to lock her in her room, the usual Indian parent stereotype (but it usually goes for teens). The people from her family involved in this situation are some of the most manipulative and abusive people I have ever met and I fear for her safety. As much as I would love to sort this out on my own, that seems to be turning into a pipe dream by the minute as the more time passes the more newer and innovative threats she keeps receiving (they threaten her, I haven’t been contacted yet), including harm towards me, my family and her. What can I legally do to ensure the safety of everyone involved while sorting out this situation? Could the law really be helpful here? I am trying to document everything that happens in notes/chats or screenshots just in case. Apologies for the bad English as I am quite sleep deprived and exhausted.
