UI went to SDM office for marriage registration today. This was the third time I went to the office along with my wife and family. All three times we were asked to come on another date, when we refused, they asked us to wait till 2PM for the SDM (his office timings are 10AM btw).
And mind you, we had submitted our documents and booked a slot online already.
I got to know that this is a usual occurrence for him to not come on time. Is there a way I can escalate this behaviour and make him accountable? Have already filed an email to the DM of our area.
I do have respect for folks at this position, but they should at least show up on time or rectify the online systems to their own calendar.

RBhai mota mota ye hai ki mamla gandhiji ka hai.
Dusri baat complain ki hai to wo to karna hi chahiye, log dashko se karte aa rahe hai, aur karte rahenge. But he will escape with this also bcz govt usually keep the system under resourced, and assign same officer multiple positions. So most probably he will say he went for another task for that position or on a survey somewhere. Your complain might be addressed or it will be ‘allowed’ to complete with or without gandhiji. But nothing will change. -

SMarriage can be registered in any district. Try to find out where an honest officer is posted and register from there. Meanwhile keep complaining about this current one everywhere.
Even take help from agent and note the agent name and number and let the agent ask for money. Then u can directly say the officer asked for bribe via agent. That makes for a stronger case.

UI’m applying for registration in Delhi, as far as I have read, I can only apply for marriage registration in the area where I’m currently residing or the area where the marriage took place (outside Delhi, so not an option).
Can you share any reliable source or portal where I can apply?

SYes ur right. U need local address proof for registration.
Keep bugging the officers or change the appointment location to the head office if possible. I did my registration without any agent on my own after two years. It went smoothly and got it within half an hour. Just needed to bring three witnesses.

UCool. I had to pay extra. I was also sent back 2-3 times for random reasons. Then, since we had to leave the city, we approached the person in charge (the one who takes applications in the morning) and asked what it would take. We had the certificate by the end of the day.
By the way, a bunch of people who had everything in order still didn’t get the certificate because they were told the server wasn’t responding. Eventually, they had to pay too.
