How to get possession certificate/allotment letter in Delhi from housing society?

My grandfather had applied for a flat almost 4 decades ago in a housing society in Delhi (one of the first allottees in the society). After my grandfathers passing, my father paid the remaining payment for the flat, property taxes etc. But the society never gave the possession certificate/allotment letter in my father’s name. We only have share Certificate. What are our options to get these documents? We want to sell the property.
