March 11, 2025 at 6:17 pmHi all,I’m a 26M Person with Disability and recently ran away from an abusive home. My father has taken loans amounting to ₹40L from various loan sharks, and he has no means to repay them. The constant stress has severely impacted both my parents’ health, and I fear they may pass away soon.
They have no assets to their name, just a 2-storey house in a remote village that is unlikely to attract buyers. I can only afford to cover my own living expenses, and I do not have a high-paying job. Given this situation, I want to ensure that I do not inherit this massive debt.
Is there a legal way to get disowned or take other steps to protect myself from liability for these loans? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
