May 10, 2026 at 5:36 amThis is a follow up to this post: [https://www.reddit.com/r/LegalAdviceIndia/comments/1pjz35r/drowning_in_debt_after_failed_businesses_icici/](https://www.reddit.com/r/LegalAdviceIndia/comments/1pjz35r/drowning_in_debt_after_failed_businesses_icici/)I missed a SAMA arbitration notice from ICICI Bank, resulting in the issuance of an ex parte award that froze all my assets, including several bank accounts. Amidst financial hardship and job loss, I was unable to address the matter promptly, nor did I possess the energy to pursue the lengthy legal process; instead, I focused on recovery.
Subsequently, the harassment intensified, and my family members generously assisted in resolving the issue by lending and providing funds to settle the overdue amount. ICICI Bank assured me that they would facilitate access to my accounts within ten business days of the resolution.
However, nearly one and a half months have passed without any indication of account release. Upon follow-up with ICICI, I learned that they had not dispatched the pertinent letters until they finally shipped them on April 27.
HSBC unfroze my account on May 5, allowing me to transact. Nevertheless, after my first month’s salary for April was credited, it appears that the debit freeze was reimposed, preventing withdrawal of funds.
Attempts to contact their phone and internet banking support have been unsuccessful, as they insist I must visit the branch due to lack of remote access. Despite sending emails to their support team with the Notice of Clearance (NoC), I have received no response. As it was the weekend, I intend to visit the branch tomorrow.
I am concerned that my diligently earned funds are being held hostage due to bureaucratic delays and that I may be unable to access them in time to meet this month’s financial obligations. I seek advice on possible courses of action and would greatly appreciate any guidance.
