March 15, 2025 at 12:31 pmHello,In Jan 2023, I bought an LED/Android TV from a popular TV brand. Today, the TV display glitched and so I contacted customer service. The technician checked the TV and said there were no external damages but the display needs to be replaced. They said it would cost around 22k to replace the display since the product was out of warranty and was not insured (I was not adviced fo insure the product at the dealer shop). The issue at hand is that the product was brand new when I bought it and the rate was 42k. If there are no external damages, then the product in itself was faulty. The technician clearly said that there were no external causes for this issue. I feel wronged because it’s only been a little over 2 years and this happened. The only excuse I was given was that there is never a guarantee that electronics would be working for years.
Is it possible to take any legal action? Please let me know.
State is Tamil Nadu.

March 15, 2025 at 12:36 pmYou get a new TV nowadays for 22k. You just got the bad egg out of the dozen. I don’t think going to the consumer court will help either since it’s out of warranty.-

March 15, 2025 at 12:38 pmI understand it was inevitable but they are not taking any responsibility. 22k is a lot of money for some people. It’s easy to replace a TV but this is unfair.Edited to add: I spent a lot of time researching before buying this TV and 42k is a lot of money for the product to go to waste in just 2 years. These are the reasons why I feel wronged.

March 15, 2025 at 12:43 pmElectronic in today’s age is not built to last, the manufacturer nowadays keeps 5-10% as return/replacement/repair while launching a new product-

March 15, 2025 at 12:46 pmIt’s not built to last forever. If they are charging 42k for a TV, is it bad for the customer to expect at least 8 to 10 years of decent quality? I would’ve bought a cheaper brand if this was the expectation.-

March 15, 2025 at 1:56 pm8 to 10 years is a huge expectation, you have to accept the reality that electronic is a pure gamble now a days-

March 15, 2025 at 2:23 pmThat’s just an excuse for selling faulty products. As I mentioned before, if I wanted to buy a product that won’t last long, I wouldn’t be spending a lot of money. There is a reason why certain brands are preferred over others.

March 15, 2025 at 3:01 pmIf it is out of warranty then the company is not responsible. Even if it happens the next day after the warranty gets over. Your best bet is to make an emotional appeal to them writing to the higher ups and get some more discount on the new display. -
