February 20, 2025 at 11:24 amDay before yesterday, I hit a car on signal causing a dent ( my brakes failed, out of nowhere)
No injury to anyone.Bt I got panicked, and ran away ,cause in India they don’t handle it calmly they bit u like crazy .
I want to know what can I do now?? Should report to the police ? Or should I wait for the person claims??

February 20, 2025 at 11:38 amHow did you even escape bro? Wouldn’t the concerned person come out of the car immediately if he realised you hit him ?-

February 20, 2025 at 11:45 amBut was the dent really big though? If the owner prefers convience over hassle, then he might just forgive this incident and claim the insurance himself.
If the owner is hell-bent on going through the legal route and also has dashcam recordings, then the police will call you.

February 20, 2025 at 11:54 amHard to say. You can expect around a week(from my experience), but if the owner has contacts, then it’s more quicker.-

February 20, 2025 at 11:38 amUnless the damage was major, you don’t have a cause for worry.
Generally smaller incidents go unreported as no one wants to go through the hassle of making and following up on a complaint. It is only done in cases of major damages when the car owner needs to make an insurance claim.
Even if it is reported, you just offer to cover the repair cost, police won’t pursue the case. Offer a little extra cash, and the complaint will be withdrawn.
This isn’t a major offence for which you would be punished.
Not a major cause for worry. -

February 20, 2025 at 11:43 amOP did the wrong thing. You should have stopped to compensate that person. They’ll only bite you if you refuse to pay as you hit their car.-

February 20, 2025 at 12:09 pmIf the damage was minimal then nothing is gonna happen…If it resulted in serious injuries or damage then they may file a complaint or FIR for Hit and run… They will call you to the police station and ask u for your statement and most probably police will ask both Party to settle( unless there is death or critical injury) and police will look for some chadhawa from you too.
Most probably the people couldn’t even get your car number to file a complaint… And no one’s gonna put an effort to do so unless the accident resulted in something major.
Running away is not a wise decision… But always the best thing to do in suck cases…. The Indian population does not deserve sympathy because of their unhinged illiterate actions.

February 20, 2025 at 1:12 pmYour brakes failed and you still drove away? Get a good lawyer in court for any issue in future cause you suck at lying. -
