Hi Guys,

I recently obtained a Letter of Credit (LOC) through an RTI request related to a tender submission. I’m pretty sure it’s fake.

I’ve reached out to the relevant SBI branches and offices, including the issuing branch,Zonal Branch and the main one in mumbai for verification. I’m in the process of sending letters and emails to request confirmation regarding the authenticity of the LOC.
My questions are:
1. What steps should I take to ensure the verification process is smooth and timely? Any suggestions for escalating the matter if I don’t receive a timely response
2. What is the punishment if the LOC turns out to be fake?
3. Will SBI actually escalate the matter or close it without further investigation? (so that they dont get a bad name)
4. Has anyone here dealt with verifying LOCs or had a similar situation?

I would appreciate any advice or insights from those who have experience with such matters. Thanks in advance!
