March 23, 2025 at 1:50 pmNope. He’s An adult who can do whatever he wants with his money. If he denies you shelter, food, access to Healthcare or is abusing you physically then you can approach the cops.
In this case you can ask your relatives, extended family, neighbors and friends to talk some sense to your father or study harder and get a government college (with low fees) or scholarship

Please refer to this case where 22 lakhs has been awarded as maintenance for college education.
And I donโt know what part of OPs post gave away why the father isnโt giving money.

March 23, 2025 at 2:04 pmHe is legally obligated to educate you for 14 years of age only, which he did. Other than that it’s the relationship between you, which isn’t sounding good, go for an education loan, any scholarship or govt college. You will need to pay a lawyer also if you go for a good one, which you don’t have, this isn’t the right method to move ahead.

March 23, 2025 at 2:15 pmLegally nothing can be done. What you can do is try to understand his reasoning, like if it’s related to the course, college or location of your choice, then you can find middle ground or if it’s financial issues, then there are low interest education loans that can be paid back after your course when you get a job. -

March 23, 2025 at 2:20 pmYou are having a big brother as you said you could ask him bcj what I feel is that brothers love their sisters so much that whatever she asks they are rarely able to sent them.
You could try education loan.
And try finding about the reason why he’s doing so, the reason could be you not respecting him, him finding about your relationship or any other reason if not so, then try and get you education loan and handle your life yourself. -

March 23, 2025 at 2:20 pmArrange for it fr elsewhere – relatives, neighbors, social charity groups, bank loan etc. you are just 17. You’ll need to arrange the fee and other related expenses for next few years. Also look into part-time jobs. When you talk to ppl in yr circle, let them know about this without anger/bitterness towards yr father bcoz that is not acceptable in our society: *my family is not able to provide for my education. I don’t know the reasons. Father knows. But I need financial help right now else my future is screwed* Ppl can figure out the truth for themselves -

Since it was 2019, I don’t exactly remember what arguments they used but the protection officer or magistrate directed the bank where her father had an account to freeze the sum of fees. March 23, 2025 at 4:09 pmIf you’re a Hindu, you should be able to get maintenance from your father through a Family Court under Section 20 (3) of the Hindu Adoptions and Maintenance Act, 1956 given your situation. The legal provision reads as follows:-
> The obligation of a person to maintain his or her aged or infirm parent or a daughter who is unmarried extends in so far as the parent or the unmarried daughter, as the case may be, is unable to maintain himself or herself out of his or her own earnings or other property.
There’s another provision under Section 125 Cr.P.C. but its applicability is very narrow. It would apply for an unmarried daughter above 18, only if her inability to earn stems from a physical or mental abnormality or injury. So it won’t apply.
