April 19, 2025 at 12:39 pmJust a rant, but this is the reality. In India, anyone can register a will after someone dies – even if it’s completely fake. How? Just throw a few bucks at the right officials and voilà, it’s registered like it’s legit. You die without a will? No worries. Someone else can just create one, grease some palms, and the authorities will happily register it. No verification, no due diligence.
Now the actual legal heirs? They’ll have to fight it out in court for decades. Literally 25-30 years just to prove it’s a fake will. And during that time, the fraudster enjoys all the rent, property benefits, everything.
And the cherry on top? All the money they’re making from your property – they use that to fund bribes. To keep the police quiet, to keep government officers on their side, to delay the court case even more. All from the same stolen source.
Oh, and good luck finding a lawyer. Most of them want a percentage of the property if you win the case – not a fixed fee. That means they’re gambling on your grief. And worst of all? Many of them will deliberately slow down the proceedings, charging fees while secretly shaking hands with the opposite party.
This is the justice system here. Not based on law or truth – just based on how much you can pay under the table. Corruption wins. Every one is corrupt here

April 19, 2025 at 12:56 pmI agree, this does feel exactly like a rant from an impotent infantile delinquent. But, yes. Wills can be faked after death. Anywhere in the world where wills are applicable, it can and probably has been faked. But I’d argue that even the permissibility of wills is even better than not, where the govt, family members, close and distant, and other people fight like vultures.
Again, wills *can* be faked. That’s why if you want your will to stand for the people you love after your passing, you got to your trusted lawyer, and you also have a heart-to-heart with your loved ones, so that everyone *concerned* stands on equal footing and hopefully no one gets swindled.
It’s the responsibility of the willer to do their due diligence, proof of authenticity and such.
My parents already have a will in place for me and my brother, and everyone concerned already knows exactly what they are getting, and already made their peace with it.
What you’ve written in your rant, while probable, feels right out of Bollywood soap operas.

April 19, 2025 at 1:18 pmDepends on when the will is made, now wills are not only made on paper but there is a video recording done as well where the willer has to confirm all the contents in front of a magistrate. If the magistrate feels the willer has been forced or does not understand what he/she is doing then it can be denied.-

April 19, 2025 at 4:32 pmWill can be easily challenged in court, i have personally drafted such cases and usually if it appears that there are suspicious circumstances in drawing up of the Will the courts usually agree and declare them as void ab initio, further the mesne profits from the property under dispute can also be challenged through stay proceedings in the same case. -

April 19, 2025 at 5:33 pmNot exclusive to India, though.I first faced a problem like this with relatives in Ireland.
I have friends who faced this in the US as well.
What I’m trying to say is, it happens everywhere, so you need to be very aware of your assets and get proof of usage almost immediately.

April 20, 2025 at 5:02 amOne registered will.
One will made by elder brother and signed by great grandpa.
One will made by younger brother (my grandpa) and signed by great grandpa.Court Case since 1980s. Other party not willing to compromise even something like 75:25.
One encroachment on an empty property because of the above and add that case too.
Great grandpa is no more
Grandpa is no more.
Dad is no more.Ancestral property is good and all. Not if you bear all the legal expenses in hope of getting a 25% share (that will also be subdivided to 5 people [dad + 4 siblings])

April 20, 2025 at 5:22 amThats why India is a country that cannot become a developed nation, the base root cause of the systems is corruption, anything can be done, ppl can be r*aped, k*idnapped, k*illed and everything is excusable if you have money to throw at people, even the elections here are run on religious grounds, illegal immigrants are allowed with open hands here, even fake Aadhaar cards, voter cards can be made here.
no checking no implementation of law, nothing.Yeah, this is country we live in, where justice is deliberately delayed, every tax payment makes a cut to some MLA’s pocket, some political parties, instead of channelising it to real issues, Politicians need to realise that constructing the highways or just tall buildings doesnt not mean development. people here even lack basic civic sense.
Necessities are inflated to such an exponential level every year when the salary growth rate is slowly pacing.
improper education, lack of government support and a lot of problematic things hereAnything can happen in your favour if u have money to bribe , every person in the system is corrupt, and even if they are not ,, over the period they realise the harsh reality of the system and beceome corrupted, blinded by so much money as if they will take it with them when they die
