Interest calculation on civil case promissory note.

I need clarification on below statement from the judgement copy of civil case promissory note.

Does it mean interest applied suit amount 3.7L from filing date to decree date? Or applies on principal amount overall period.

wanted to understand how it is as per legal/law.

***“That the suit be and the same is hereby decreed in favour of the plaintiff and against the defendant for an amount of Rs 3.70,145/- with subsequent interest @ 12% p.a., from the date of filing of the suit i.e., 27-01-2020 till the date of decree i.e., 23-02-2026 and thereafter @ 6% p.a from the date of decree till the date of realization on the principal amount of Rs.2,72,500/-“***
