April 9, 2025 at 4:45 pmSince around 2015–16, I used to get 2–3 match tickets in Chennai through a known contact without any issues. However, in 2023, I had some clients visiting from abroad during the IPL season. As it was peak summer, I wanted to arrange tickets for them in the AC box for a better experience, especially since the expenses would be covered by the company.I reached out to the same person and requested 20 AC box tickets. He quoted ₹7,500 per ticket, and I agreed. He asked for the payment to be made three weeks in advance, stating that AC box tickets were limited. Accordingly, I paid him ₹1,50,000.
A week later, he started increasing the price—first to ₹10,000, then ₹12,500, and eventually ₹15,000 per ticket. Despite the changes, I continued to trust him, thinking he would deliver as promised, given our history.
However, on the day of the match, he informed me that a corporate client had booked the seats, and he couldn’t get the tickets. He neither provided the tickets nor refunded the money.
About a month later, he issued a cheque, which eventually bounced. The bounced cheque was sent to my residential address. To this day, he has not returned any of the money.
It’s been almost two years now, and I believe I have given ample time. I would now like to take legal action. Can I proceed with filing a case based on the bounced cheque, or is there a different legal process I should follow?

April 9, 2025 at 4:50 pmThe time to initiate legal proceedings against him basis the bounced cheque has long passed. But you can surely file a police complaint against him and try getting your money back. Civil remedy is going to have you running in and around courts for years, and is less of a pressure tactic.-

April 9, 2025 at 4:53 pmThat is the sole reason i haven’t take this step for 2 years. Another reason was he is a college student i didn’t feel like filing a case, but in recent times he has been harsh and talking very rude while asking for money to return. So i felt it is high time to take the next step forward.-

April 9, 2025 at 4:58 pmYou can serve upon him a legal notice, demanding your monies, also intimating that non-return will attract civil/criminal consequences. That might instill some fear within him and you may get your money back.-
