March 10, 2025 at 2:34 pmEvery time I make a call, Iβm forced to listen to some awareness campaign for 30 seconds, who knows, who cares for what? Did 1.4 billion people sign up for this nonsense? How is this not harassment at scale? And what fuckery is this that instead of catching the handful of culprits, we have to ask 1.45 billion people to stay vigilant? If the system canβt fix the root cause, then why not shut down the Ministry of Communication and all the departments responsible for this mess? Just hand it over to a private company that can actually do its job.
Is there any way to stop this once and for all? And if anyone from the legal side is here, can I sue Airtel for this continuous, baseless harassment?
Open to discussion, anyone else as frustrated as I am?

March 10, 2025 at 2:39 pmyes equally frustrated. This shows extreme level of incompetency of our police system. We have to resort to truecaller and what not to stay vigilant. Privacy is breached by bank folks itself. We are already fed up with cold calling by sales folks. No relief on any front.-

March 11, 2025 at 11:22 amFor the awareness campaign, Airtel’s customer support told me that I can cut the call immediately and re-dial. On re-dialling, the awareness campaign won’t play.-

March 10, 2025 at 3:05 pmThe only way it works is if you press # or some other key. But thatβs not the point. Tried it just now, and it sucks, just to prove this, I had to listen to that crap again.Part of the problem is people like you, who adjust to any nonsense and make it sound like the onus is on us instead of questioning why we have to deal with this in the first place.

March 10, 2025 at 3:53 pmIt’s worse on Vi, you get the announcements on every alternate call – and you can not skip it by pressing any button – you must cut the call and redial.Jio does not play it a single time though, it’s a master strategy to get people frustrated and switch networks.

March 10, 2025 at 4:00 pmSo VI suffers the most, airtel is suffering partially that you can skip it but youβve to skip everytime and Jio nothing. -

Hope this nonsensical message doesn’t play while dialing emergency numbers.Airtel plays it in every call. I want to port to jio if it’s less of that nonsense there. Seriously these idiots need opt out option.

March 11, 2025 at 7:46 amEvery time I go to the airport, my bags are checked. I find it frustrating because if they don’t check our bags, people (Including myself) might get hurt. It’s a part of life I must live with. This is a PSA because scams are way too common these days and it’s hurting the poorest, least literate parts of our society. This is a social burden we must bear so we can support those around us – even if we think we’ll never personally fall for them.
Legally, you cannot see Airtel. You can, but to no avail. They are following directives from a government agency. You can find out who the agency is and try suing them instead.

Stupid mod removed the post saying you can google this.Anyhow, I figured out a workaround, when the announcement starts press any number like 0. It will skip the announcement. Thanks me later π

March 11, 2025 at 9:17 amSince we’re speaking of airtel. I’d like to share my experience.Yesterday I did a prepaid recharge for 249. In the plans list, it was showing 28 days validity. I clicked on details; in details page, it was showing 24 days. I again double checked the number in plans list it was 28 days, i clicked 249 plan again and in second time it was showing 28 days.
I went ahead with the recharge. After successful transaction I again checked My Plan Details. Validity was 2nd April (24days). I went to help chatbot and raised a complaint/ticket. And at the same time just after raising the ticket, my validity was now 6th april (meaning 28 days).
Ppl usually don’t check plan details after a recharge and they’re taking advantage of this. They’ll say that must be some technical issue. But if they’re doing this intentionally (showing validity 28 days and then actually giving 24 days). They must be earning a lot by this. I call this a Scam.
