April 27, 2026 at 12:38 pmA woman I know works at Cotiviti India, and her shift ends around 3:30 AM.At that hour, traveling in outside cabs is not safe. The company provides transport only if employees pay ₹7000 per month (earlier it was ₹3500, now doubled without any clear justification).
There’s no proper alternative provided and no Work From Home option either, despite the late-night shifts.
This raises some serious concerns:
If someone cannot afford ₹7000, how are they supposed to travel safely at 3:30 AM?
Why is basic safety being treated as a paid service?
If any incident happens during travel, who takes responsibility?
With rising fuel costs and living expenses, this extra burden is not small. For someone earning around ₹25,000/month, spending ₹7000 just on transport leaves very little for basic needs.
Companies need productivity, but putting this kind of financial and safety pressure on employees doesn’t seem right.
Is this normal practice? Are there any rules in India regarding transport for women working
Looking for advice or similar experiences.
