So, I recently had an experience with Tribit India, and I wanted to see if this is a common issue or just a one-off case.

For those who don’t know, Tribit is one of the leading brands selling Bluetooth speakers on Amazon, and their quality is actually pretty good—no complaints there. I’ve had one of their speakers for about two years, but last month, the left driver started producing a lot of distortion. Naturally, I reached out to their support team, assuming they’d offer paid repair services, but to my surprise, they flat-out refused, saying they don’t provide any service after the warranty period, even if the customer is willing to pay.

        This got me thinking:

        1. Is it normal for consumer electronics brands to refuse post-warranty service, even when the customer is happy to pay?

        2. Is this even legal in India? Can companies just deny repairs entirely once the warranty expires?

        3. How many people actually know about this? Do most consumers realize they might be stuck with an unrepairable product after the warranty period?

        4. Is this issue common across all consumer goods, including larger appliances like refrigerators, washing machines, and dishwashers? Or is it mostly seen in smaller electronics like speakers and headphones?

Just curious—has anyone else faced this? Is this the new normal

Did you make the complaint before the expiry of warranty?

No. Post the expiry of warranty. my doubt here is that is it legal for companies to deny the repair (paid) outright post expiry of warranty

Settled law is post expiry, you have to bear the cost. But if they deny service, best you can file a complaint and claim inconvenience. You may also prove manufacturing defect.

Beyond that, don’t suppose you might be able to do much.

The reason I asked if you filed complaint before expiry is because you will have definite case if they didn’t service your complaint.
