Landlord asking me to vacate because I paid full rent online instead of part cash?

Need some advice on a weird situation with my landlord in Bangalore.

So my rental agreement says I have to pay rent to his bank account before the 5th every month. There’s nothing mentioned about cash payments anywhere in the agreement.

But informally, he had told us earlier to split the rent – pay some online and some in cash.

This month I was out of town for a while, so I just paid the full rent online directly to his account (as per the agreement).

After that, he called me and said I need to vacate in one month because I didn’t follow his “rule” about splitting the payment. This was only said on a call, nothing in writing.

Since then, he’s not picking up my calls or replying to messages.

For context:
\- I’ve paid rent on time
\- No issues or complaints from my side
\- Agreement is valid till Dec 2026
\- I’ve given a ₹50k deposit

I’m honestly confused here.

Is this something he can actually do? And should I just ignore this unless he gives something in writing?

Also a bit worried about my deposit if things go bad later.

Would appreciate any advice from people who’ve dealt with landlords in Bangalore.
