February 19, 2025 at 3:23 pmA year ago, after the husband’s demise, the rent agreement was to be transferred to the wife. The landlord overcharged by 4 times the amount mentioned in the agreement for transfer. This was an oversight and wasn’t noticed at the time due to the circumstances and the mental state at the time. I’m pretty sure the landlord was aware of this and used the situation to his advantage. My question is, is there any legal ground to ask the landlord to return the amount? Basically, intent here is to skip the rent to the amount to the amount that the landlord overcharged.
I know this might seem petty but the landlord is a major asshole and as such, I’m not inclined overlook this intentional deception and fraud.
