My Laptop Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 (GTX 1650, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD).
Initial Issue: Screen flickering (external display worked fine, pointing to a hardware issue with the display cable/screen).
Repair Shop Visit:
– Laptop was handed over only for flickering repair.
– After diagnostics, the shop claims:
– Motherboard + CPU failure.
– Repair Cost: โน17,500 (motherboard replacement).
– New Symptom: Laptop now doesnโt power on (no charging light, no response).Key Concerns:
1. The laptop worked (except for flickering) before being given to the shop.
2. The sudden “motherboard + CPU failure” diagnosis is suspicious and coincides with the shopโs handling.
3. The quoted cost (โน17,500) seems excessive for a third-party repair.Evidence
– External monitor worked perfectly (proving GPU was functional).
– Flickering occurred in BIOS/Safe Mode (indicating hardware, not software).
– Shop likely mishandled the laptop during diagnostics (causing power failure).Questions
1. Accountability: Can the shop be held liable if they damaged the laptop during repairs?
2. Consumer Rights:
– What legal options exist under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019?
– Can I demand a refund/compensation if negligence is proven?
3. Steps to Escalate:
– How to formally request proof of damage from the shop?
– How to file a complaint with the Consumer Forum?
4. Evidence: What documentation (photos, receipts, diagnostics report) should I gather?Action Taken So Far
– Tested with a different charger (no success).
– Visited another repair shop (pending).
– Planning to contact Lenovoโs authorized service center.I did take my laptop my that service centre and they strangely did not charge me and let me leave with my laptop although they didn’t take my money I think they mishanded my laptop now a just took it to a official service centre they will tell me what happend in two days time and I have only photo of laptop work with flickering issue and receipt that I went to that shop what should I do now
