March 10, 2025 at 8:12 amAn acquaintance is buying some land in West Bengal from another.
The rural land beside dirt/kaccha roads is worth โน3L. Their lawyer prepared a deed that everyone read and signed, with everything attested as needed. He asked for โน20k for the deed papers. Now he is saying that since the road has changed to pitch/pakka, so price has been updated, therefore they have to pay another 15k for the papers. He has kept this deed and is unwilling to hand it back unless the money is handed to him and the work is done.
Now I understand there is a lot of misunderstanding here too and I wanted to understand from you people how this registry process works and what are the losses in letting him keep the deed. Since as far as I know, a deed can be made again and again..
Thank you for your time and understanding.. ๐
