April 29, 2025 at 6:51 pmMy parents have a notorious tenant who is not paying rent for last 5 months and is also refusing to vacate the flat citing baseless excuses. My parents’s lawyer claims that they sent the tenant 4 notices till now out of which the lawyer shared copy of only the first notice with my parents. My parents have requested the lawyer multiple times to share the copies of rest of the notices and every-time the lawyer says that they will share but they don’t end up sharing. Can someone please tell me if it’s not a general practice by lawyers to share copies of notices served with their client? If it is, then is something fishy going on with this lawyer? Is it possible that they didn’t send the notices at all or if they did, they don’t want us to have copies so that it’s difficult for us to switch to a better lawyer?

April 29, 2025 at 6:59 pmHey if you feel something fishy is going on then trust your gut it is, I don’t think it is ethical for advocate not to share information if repeatedly asked by the clients (though I have no practice). In case you feel that something is wrong file an official complaint to the bar council that person is registered – particular district court or high court.-

April 29, 2025 at 7:14 pmLawyers are obligated to keep clients informed and provide copies of all communications made on their behalf. The refusal to share these notices could indicate that they were never sent, or the lawyer might be withholding them to make it harder for you to switch representation. There could also be errors in the notices that the lawyer prefers you not to see.You should formally request the notices by sending a written request (email or registered post) to your lawyer asking for copies of all legal notices sent to the tenant. If your current lawyer continues to be uncooperative, it may be prudent to engage a new lawyer who can assist you in obtaining the necessary documents and proceeding with legal action.

April 29, 2025 at 10:13 pmHey, I completely understand your frustration—and you’re absolutely right to be concerned. It is 100% standard and expected practice for a lawyer to share all notices, documents, and correspondences with their client, especially when the client is the one who is directly affected by the situation. If your lawyer is not sharing the notices despite repeated requests, that’s a red flag. Either they’re being unreasonably non-transparent, or worse, the notices were never actually sent, and now they’re covering up. And no client should ever feel like they’re being trapped into staying with a lawyer just because of withheld documents.
In landlord-tenant disputes—especially when the tenant is defaulting on rent—you need a lawyer who is prompt, transparent, and aggressive in approach. Someone who keeps you in the loop, provides you a copy of everything (because it’s your right), and actually moves the matter forward rather than keeping you in the dark.
I’ve worked closely with families in similar situations where non-cooperative tenants create years of stress. If you feel your current lawyer isn’t being fair or responsive, it might be time to get a second opinion or consider switching. I’d be happy to review your case and help you with a fresh, decisive approach that puts your rights first and ensures complete transparency.
You and your parents deserve clarity and action, not excuses.
Let me know if you’d like to connect privately—happy to assist.

April 30, 2025 at 1:48 amHi. I’m a lawyer here. Your lawyer has no business not to share with you that remotely relates to you, document or information . Visit him personally and ensure that you have it all. If something doesn’t turn out to be right, please let go of him and consult another lawyer. Not saying you shouldn’t take action against him.-

April 30, 2025 at 2:58 amLawyers are supposed to keep clients informed and also return all documents to them.If the lawyer isn’t giving it, he probably never sent it and has been misguiding you.
If he isn’t giving the letters ask him – give me the courier speed post tracking numbers. If he refuses that too, then you’ll know he never sent it.
If he really starts messing with you and your case complaint to bar council of India
